Holi is the very famed Indian festival of colors. It is one of most vibrant and joyous festival celebrated in India. It is Hindu festival which is celebrated on the full moon day in the Hindu months of Phalguna. long before the generation of water balloons and pichkaaris, Holi was only an idea. Holi has a rich history in India.






It is believed that the festivals date back to ancient times, when the king Heman was killed by his father-in-law, King Kansa,who was jealous of Heman's popularity. To celebrate his Victory, kansa  declared that the people of his kingdom should celebrate the day by throwing colored powder and water at each other. This tradition has been passed down through generations and is now celebrated all over India.


Another popular legend associated with Holi is the story of Prahlada, the devotee of Lord Vishnu. Prahlada’s father, the demon king Hiranyakashipu, was determined to make Prahlada worship him instead of Lord Vishnu. But Prahlada refused to abandon his faith and when Hiranyakashipu tried to kill him, Lord Vishnu took the form of Narasimha and killed him. To celebrate Prahlada’s victory, Holi is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm.
